Bahá’ís are members of a global community that believes in one God, one unfolding religion and one human family. The Bahá’í Faith is the youngest of the world’s independent religions. Since its inception in Persia (now Iran) in 1844, it has grown to more than eight million followers and is the second most widespread religion in the world. Bahá’ís believe that there is one loving, all-powerful and unknowable divine Source for the world’s great religions, and that all humanity is one family.
The worldwide Bahá'í community, composed of people from virtually every racial, ethnic and religious background, is working to give practical expression to a vision of world unity.
As Bahá'ís, we aim to foster unity and fellowship and to bring the gift of the Bahá'í Teachings to our communities. With fellow Bahá'ís around the world, we share the belief that we are all a single people with a common destiny. In the words of Bahá'u'lláh, the Founder of our Faith: "The Earth is but one country and mankind its citizens."
